How Do I Go About Litterbox Training An Adult Cat?

I have had my cat for 14 years, he's still healthy and running around... well I had him litter box trained for the first 4 years. Then he just started going outside and using the restroom. The only problem is that I'm moving from a house in the country to an apartment in the city. I'm afraid to let him out to roam around... I won't be moving for about another 2-3 months. Is there anyway I can possible re-train him in the litterbox?

yeah it may sound gross but take one of his poops from outside and put it in the litter box. then when he comes inside set him in the litter box so he gets the scent. it’s a natural instinct for cats to bury their poo so he’ll get the hang of it in no time. i had new born kittens use the litter box all by themselves with out training. (not when they were first born but after they were old enough to walk around…but the point is i had them since they were born)
if you find some of your cats poo put it into the litter box and put him in it to show him he needs to go in the litter box.
Before you move. Put some store bought litter in your cats litter box and add some dirt from outside where he normally goes potty. After awhile he will start going in the litter box all of the time, then you can omit the dirt from outside. I adopted a stray that had obviously been a house cat at one time. She slept in my shed and lived outside for 2 more years. Like you I had to move to an apartment. I did the above routine, it worked well and easy for me. She has now been litter box trained (again) for 3 1/2 years now. OH …. BTW….. Once you start the litter box training, don’t let your cat outside under any circumstances. This way he will get use to being confined indoors. When you move to the city and your apartment he will have no desire to run when the door is open. But, be sure he can get to a window to watch the action outside.
I think the only way is to do it when you have bad weather and the cat can’t go out set up a litter box and this sounds gross but get some gloves and find some of his poop spots and take a piece of his poop and put in his litter box he will then most likely remember and understand what to do. Just make sure it his poop not another cats, so maybe follow one day and get a sample, he probably has a few areas my cat will go outside all summer but at night and in winter she’ll use the litter box with no problem. Good luck that’s all I can think of that makes sense.

Yes, you can re-train him. Just keep him confined in a small space like a bathroom or a pet tent with his bed, food, toys and litterbox until you are confident he is using a box again.

I have NEVER seen a cat that needed liter box training-It’s in bread in their genes. Just show him where the box is, keep it cleaned regularly and they do the rest.

Is the box clean? Cats will start to go anywhere they want if the box is not clean.
Assuming you have at least a Private Pilot License and live in the USA, you'll need definitely additional ratings. Depending on the type of turboprop you'd like to fly, you'll either need a type rating if MTOW exceeds 12,500 lbs or 5,700 kgs.
Also, the FAA in the United States requires co-pilots (second-in-command, or SIC) to have a 'SIC Type Rating' for aircraft requiring a crew of two, and otherwise requires a type rating to act as pilot-in-command (PIC) to fly internationally, or over international airspace. This is in order to remain compliant with ICAO. This is outlined in 14 CFR 61.55. Such a type rating is not required for operations completely within the United States.

FIRST: Get an account with Aweber…a very good autoresponder. Once a month, send an email to your list in which you talk about sales, promotions, new products, etc. Offer something to customers that join your email list…future discount, free report, I've even seen free piece of chocolate used as an incentive.
Let's say you get 50-100 people in your store each day. Just 10% would be 5-10 emails per day, or 150-300 per month. In 6 months you have a list that contains 900-1800 email addresses of people that have been in your store, agreed to get emails and you no longer have to sell to…the have all been "pre-qualified". In other words, they know you, your store, your products/services.
Keep in mind that 80% of your business comes from 20% of your customers. A good autoresponder will allow you to keep in touch and bring people in your door.
You have 3 options: Get more people in your store, get the people in your store to buy more and get people to come back more often.
SECOND: Put a simple sign in the window about a promotion they receive when they come in and give their email address so they walk into your store. Even if they turn around and leave, you've got them in and got their email. Half the battle is now over.
THIRD: Get a website if you don't already have one. If you do, attach the Aweber or other autoresponder to it. Now you can capture email addresses from your site as well. Again, offer some incentive.
FOURTH: Here's one to address bad habits; Asking a question that the customer can answer with "yes" or "no". Never say "can I help you?" That's the worst…it's so easy to say "no" to that. Instead, comment on the item they are looking at. Get them to talk about what they like, need, want. Sell them on features and benefits of the item they are considering.
